Orca whales are found along the entire coast of Alaska except in areas where pack ice is present.  These whales can reach lengths up to 27 feet and weigh over 10 tons.  The tall dorsal fin is one of the most notable characteristics of the orca whale.  In males the fin may reach 6 feet and females 3 feet.  These tall dorsal fins are also used to identify individual animals.

Orkawale gibt es entlang der gesamten KüEte von Alaska, au▀er in Gebieten mit Packeis. Diese Wale k÷nnen bis zu 27 Fu▀ (ca. 8m) lang werden und wiegen üEer 10 Tonnen. Die gro▀e RüEkenflosse ist eines der hervorstechendsten Merkmale der Orkawale. Bei mΣnnlichen Tieren k÷nnen diese Flossen bis zu 6 Fu▀ (ca. 180 cm) und bei Weibchen bis zu 3 Fu▀ (120 cm) lang werden. Anhand dieser gro▀en RüEkenflossen kann man die einzelnen Tiere auch unterscheiden.
